it started with bad timing on their part...
...they both served missions which took them out of cirulation. Lark returned from his mission in time for the 2009 season but had mission rust and was well behind Max Hall, Brendan Gaskins and Riley Nelson. The following year Jake Heaps and Riley Nelson were locked in a battle and Lark and others were buried on the depth chart. Lark never could get much attention from coaches after that. Bronco and Doman were both starry eyed and heavily man-crushed on Riley.

When Munns returned before the 2010 season, he missed spring practice and had to wait until fall camp. He was so far behind Heaps, Nelson, Lark etc that he got ignored and buried on the depth chart. It seems like he also came back heavy and out of shape. Like Lark, with Bronco and Doman so heavily whupped on Riley Nelson, he was also persona non-grata.

It's easy to blame it all on Lark and Munns and say they were terrible but QB's need reps to improve and they didn't get much at all. If it wasn't for the fact that Brad Sorenson was also buried on the depth chart and totally ignored by coaches who were lovestruck with Riley-fever. He was smart, however, and transferred and played at SUU and later was drafted into the NFL. Do you think he would've done that had he stayed at BYU?! Heck no, not with coaches and Riley in a Love Connection. There was no room for anyone else.
