who's to say Riley would've done any better?
Lark certainly didn't get any help from the running game. We had 30 carries for 52 yds. The offense stunk for a lot of reasons beyond James Lark. At any rate, Riley wasn't any sharper in that game. He finished 0-2 passing with a pick.

It's pure conjecture at this point to say if Lark really was terrible or not because he never got the reps in practice to find out. Brad Sorenson saw the way coaches were fawning over Riley and grooming him to replace Hall and didn't even wait for the arrival of Jake Heaps. He was smart and got out of Dodge. Coaches flat out told him he wasn't going to play ever at BYU. He went to SUU, got to play, set several school passing records and got drafted into the NFL. Who thinks that would've still happened if he had stayed at BYU? Not with the Riley Nelson lovefest going on.
