happen to align for them, not because they plan it out so systematically. We go from QB to QB however the alignment happens to work out. We haven't really had many Mangums come to BYU and have a shot so early. If we had a great QB playing for a few more years, sure. But yes, I personally believe Hosick is not one of those guys.
Why were the record breaking performances by Heaps not impressive? Because BYU never has freshmen QBs. It's not like there was much to break. It doesn't mean someone can't come in and succeed early. Just means that's how things usually align. Obviously Heaps got his shot because a senior just left and there wasn't much behind. But even Heaps couldn't steal it completely.... But that's Heaps.
Obviously I'm on the Mangum train, but he did play well in spring ball and coaches loved him. He was probably the best passer that spring. And like I said, this won't be a kid fresh out of HS. He has the chance to take over after a whole year in the program. Winston was a RS freshman as well.
And yes, sorry, I was looking at Hosick's 3 years total that he has. I'm just not sure he ever starts at BYU.
