I think you always strive as a competitor to be in the playoffs. But, the reality is, most teams don't get there.
Here's an article on 25 MAJOR programs that have never won a national championship. We have.

Point is, we've got it pretty good. We win more than 90% of the teams out there (according to that link above). NINETY percent. And we do it avoiding major off the field issues, for the most part. We go to a bowl game EVERY year.
The coaches aren't perfect, but they're pretty good. They deserve our support.
