He didn't join the staff after Crowton left...and Crowton didn't touch the D.
So while you may not give him ALL the credit...you have to give him some of the credit. I guarantee you he was involved in recruiting those players.
And then he hired the staff that took 3 straight losing seasons...including some utterly disastrous offensive seasons...and turned them into what he did.
In fact...you pretty much should give him MOST of the credit for every season he has been the head coach. Because that's the way it works...especially considering he was involved in every Crowton recruiting class.
