So to simplify it for you...there is only 1 other team outside the B12 that has
an individual contract with ESPN besides BYU. That team is Boise St...

BYU is independent and Boise St is in the MWC and they still have a separate component to their contract.

BYU is $6-8M (conservative - some list $8-15M - I never go that high just to eliminate any naysayers).

Boise is about $2.5M (that was their total payout to include the MWC portion and their indvidual contract portion in 2013).

None of the others have anything with ESPN on their own (Cincy, Memphis, UCF, Houston, USF). All of them belong to a conference that does (or may) have a contract with ESPN and there is very little likelihood that any AAC or CUSA contract would change if 1-2 teams left them - especially when they'd just immediately call up from CUSA or Sun Belt to back fill leaving those conferences at the same numbers and likely same payout by ESPN...

Note also that those conferences currently are likely getting no more per team than the Boise $2.5M and with it being a conference protected contract it almost certainly would not change the bottom line obligation ESPN has with that conference...

Now in a vacuum wouldn't they rather still be getting Cincy, Memphis, UCF, Houston, USF, etc for way less than $2.5M each in their conference contracts that would not change if they lost 1 or 2 of them vs paying them $10M?

The answer is absolutely...you see in BYU's situation and likely BYU's situation only ESPN gets to eliminate a significant portion of their current bottom line by adding BYU as all of BYU's current contract would be gone in favor of what they'd be paying to the B12.

Boise may drop a good portion of the $2.5M they are getting in favor of the B12 money - but not the portion that is part of the MWC contract.

All other teams likely do not reduce ESPN's payout to those other conferences while adding $10M more each to ESPN's expenses...
