I'm just kind of over major college football. It's become everything I hate.
It's lost everything that once made it great. It's lost it's purity. It's lost its historical, traditional rivalries. It's no longer about true student athletes playing for the love of game and alma mater. It's become a fat, ugly, self serving oligarchy.

I'll always cheer for BYU football, but, I find myself gravitating more and more towards BYU/college hoops. It's so much more egalitarian. There is no artificial glass ceiling in college basketball. While the power conference teams may have advantages that are difficult for the smaller schools to overcome, there is nothing preventing a team like Wichita State, or Butler, or Gonzaga, or even BYU from patching together a good squad and making a deep run in the tourney...or even winning a national championship. Every team in the field of 68 controls its own destiny every single year. The same just cant be said of college football. Major college football has become a cartel.

If I'm being totally honest, I wouldn't cry if BYU just dropped football (or moved down to FCS) and became a hoops school.

Regardless of what happens to BYU football, though, I could NEVER cheer for Utah. Any person that could stomach that is NOT a BYU fan.
