The Rose/Jimmer years have made up for it. I like the direction the hoops program is going. I think it's far more likely that BYU is able to piece together a final four type basketball team from its natural recruiting/demogrraphic base than it is to put together a similarly good football team. It's much easier to find 13 D-1 caliber athletes than it is to find 85.
