Clearly that is not the full story of why Anae left

otherwise he would never have come back. The more telling fact is that the day after Reynolds retired Anae was announced as the new OC. The bad blood between Anae and Reynolds is well known.

My take on the situation is that Bronco sort of had his hands tied with Reynolds so Anae left till Reynolds was gone.
