Big teams (Nebraska, Michigan, UCLA, Texas) are supposed to beat BYU, but it's not going to be easy. If they beat BYU, the media consideres it a "good win against a good team," but BYU is rarely favored in those games. And if BYU beats them by double digits, it is often considered a "terrible blot on their record." (Unless BYU is having a really good year).
I see ECU as a similar team. Often underrated, but should not be taken lightly. If we win, the talking heads will day "Ok, so BYU continues to try and redeem itself against a good. . .not great. . .ECU team." And ECU "will show that they are good, but not in the same realm as P-5."
If ECU wins, then "the wheels have come off the BYU bus and BYU can't even beat a good (not great) ECU team. etc. etc." and ECU "Shows they can beat other mid-level (not p-5) teams. . .blah blah blah.
Maybe BYU and ECU can both win, so that the Talking Heads can discuss how both are not as good as we previously thought.
My prediction, BYU struggles more than National Perspective would think they should, but as much as many BYU realists think we will, eeking out a win at home by single digits.
However, if ECU wins, 1/2 the people on this board will be calling for the Head Coach to be fired. If ECU wins by double digits, for 1/2 the fan base, the season will be lost.
I personally will consider it a good win or OK loss, pending the rest of the season.
Incidentally, I feel out schedule this and next year have several "sleeper teams" that we simply can't afford to underestimate (such as ECU, Toledo, Cincinatti). Just teams that will beat the pants off you if you don't give them due respect.
