I don't think it's too much to ask for "fans" and "insiders" to leave it alone
when someone gets suspended...dare I even say, let the coaches break the news?! Blasphemy!! The good news is that it sounds like there is some autonomy with regards to the HC enforcement (maybe not as much as we'd like) if the coaches can handle the allegations and then involve the HC office as necessary. I believe Bronco had this as a goal as well and he achieved a level of it.

I think the crux of the Twitter rant was: "dear fans, leave HC up to the coaches...have a little faith and let them be the ones in control of the info, we'll all (including the kids - which probably matter the most here) be able to enjoy life a little more."

I'm sure the coaches would love to be able to handle things privately, but the minute it turns into public speculation and gossip, it gets harder for the coaches to address it and put it behind them because the HC office is forced to step in and make sure that no one's missing anything, essentially creating (I'm sure in SEVERAL cases) a tempest in a teacup.

I can tell you right now that at least one yewt fan in Utah county could've burned several BYU players with legit HC info last season (and it could've been pretty ugly), but chose not to based solely on his belief that he wouldn't want someone to do it to him or his team...why is it unreasonable to expect our own fan base to do the same thing? When I heard the details from him, I didn't view it as anything worthy of capital punishment but it was the kind of thing that would've turned into a hurricane in social media. I respect him for thinking it thru...some BYU fans would've called the HC office themselves so they could make sure that the level of righteousness met their expectations instead of letting people work on their own issues on their own.

We may not be able to take it back to LaVell's days, but we can do our part to stay out of someone else's dirty laundry - it's not an unreasonable request. If you're worried that the coaches are too lax (or are trying to be), then I've got news for you...you will NEVER be satisfied with the level of "justice" meted out by the coaches or HC office, because there is plenty going on at any given time that you would disapprove of because it wouldn't meet your standard. We're pretty quick to condemn and put the blindfold on lady justice because we "have higher standards".

Flame on.
