To the extent that any of this fan malcontent makes its way back to them, I am sure they laugh it off. I'm mostly just tired of all the whining about Tanner not getting time and pointing to one silly decision as the reason to now question whatever anyone wants to with the coaches. Likely the same ones whining about these coaches were the ones that did it to Bronco, though I don't care enough to check history. Seems like ~90% of the BYU football posts since Thursday have been complaining about the situation in some way or another.

I don't agree that Bronco would be 6-2 with this schedule, and I don't think we keep it as close as we have with him. If we were 6-2 regardless of coach I don't think most people are complaining. We are 2 plays away from being 6-2 with two top 25 wins, but here we sit at 4-4. I'm good with where we are at and the direction we are heading. I also understand the aggravation of being so close to that great year that has eluded BYU since 1996 (or 2001, 2006, 2009 if you deem those as great).

However, a brand new coaching staff sitting at 4-4 with this schedule already "burning much of the new coach goodwill", as you put it is really the heart of the problem. If people are already frustrated and losing patience with coaches in their first season that have kept the team this competitive against a top 20 schedule to date, then they are going to be perpetually disappointed with BYU.

Yes, I wish we had the ball bounce our way in a couple of the other close games, but I'm willing to give our coaches more time. I'm also not going to hold on to the fake punt (or whatever the next bad decision happens to be) as a way to rationalize a need to complain about the coaches, players, etc. that may be involved. I hope Taysom gets to finish his Senior year strong, and we get to see some of Tanner when the time comes.
