A coaches popularity goes down 10% every year he is in charge. Liking a coach
is great and all but have far will it really take him? Les Miles is one of the most likeable people around, and he had a national Championship, he was fired. Urban Meyer is a doshay but he wins and he goes where ever and whenever he wants, because he produces desirable results.

BM et. al had a system, his athletes and organizational momentum (time) on their side. They would have one or more blow outs both in a win and in a loss, but he'd have done better that 4-4. KS et. al probably (it very much remains to be seen) have the potential for a higher ceiling as a staff but they haven't done anything too impressive this year. 4-4 is still 4-4 no matter how much you cry about 1 point here or 1 point there. It's a loss, he is the HC, he is responsible.

Coaches and their staff ought to be evaluated based on performance. They are not ordained of God and therefore we as a population do not respond to them in the same way we do to the prophet, or other leaders of the church. We should not hold them up as idols any more than we ought to hold up our political leaders. They are subject to sharp and appropriate criticism based on their performance.

Just because a dude takes a selfie or says something in a way that makes you feel better about yourself doesn't make him right or his performance any better.

Perhaps if I say it with exclamation marks, like you, it will get my point across better!!! KS is a solid coach! He is a new coach! He is a players coach! He is a below average coach and not what BYU should be overly excited about based on his production and in-game decisions thus far!!! Go cougs!
