also remember that tipping is before tax is added, which isn't common with most credit card receipts and the restaurant owner has to pay 3% of the tip amount to the credit card companies as well as 3% of the food and beverage charge. Most restaurants bake the normal 3% into their cost structure, but generally not the fee on the tips.

I think that if people want to not tip in a sit down restaurant they should tell the waiter beforehand
