I think BYU fans just love an underdog.
His size, the fact that he has never played football, how coach Kaufusi discovered him, the struggle to find a helmet that fits, him being an RM, etc, etc, it all just adds up to a fun story about a guy that BYU fans can really root for.
We're all just a bunch of armchair QBs here on CB, but we recognize a good human-interest story when we see one. I know that as a former player and sports radio guy your instinct is to over-analyze it, but as a journalist, just see it for what it is and have fun with it. I know BYU fans will.
