...the real conundrum is what is a viable exit strategy? I agree, we're much better off financially as a scheduling friend (fodder?) for ESPN. But this kind of scheduling is murder on our record in September and is painful to watch. And the competition we line up in late October/November is not exacting faith promoting or fare to the home fans. I'm not exactly sure how this kind of exposure is helpful to the program or the church.
There is an advantage to having all sports in a conference from a branding, rivalry, and consistency standpoint. But the only way that's better financially is with the P5.
Personally, I think all sports going back to MWC is a cleaner option for scheduling and travel than football to AAC, basketball to WCC, etc. But I agree that going back to the MWC could simply be too humiliating to be an option.
