I think you're right about his great weakness. His problem with recruiting, I believe, is a complex one that touches on themes of entitlement and fear of bringing in someone that could (fatally) damage the program.
Having said that, the new coaches had better be good at recruiting because--at this point-- they don't look like the kinds of guys that can cover major deficiencies like the last staff could. A staff that started Scott Johnson at CB and beat UCLA 59-0 or beat Oklahoma with Kariya as the starting RB.
I think they'll get better, but right now they are babes in the woods as coaches.
