This is embarrassing.
This post, and it's TERRIBLE self righteousness reminds me of a few other Mormon moments of late.

Last week the tv show "Modern Family" ran an episode in which a small child says the "F word" because she doesn't know any better. It's a funny laugh for the parents as they try and teach their daughter that it's wrong, while simultaneously trying not to laugh at the hilarity of a little girl swearing. A student at BYU Idaho, apparently the President of the "no cursing club" took issue with this, and got 30,000 signatures on a petition to have ABC not air the episode. The story made big headlines, and left the rest of the country shaking their heads at those "odd Mormons."

The other story I'm referring is that famous "skinny jeans" episode at BYU-Idaho. I had non-Mormon friends from all over the country asking me why we weren't allowed to wear skinny jeans in our church. The same friends that joked with me in high school about not drinking alcohol and not doing... other things high school students tend to do where I lived. ALL of this because 1) some self righteous individual at the BYU-I testing center decided to add a bit to the dress and grooming standards and 2) some local morons decided to write an article about it, which got posted all over the internet.

My point: you're making us look like idiots. Weird idiots. We have our standards, we know what they are. When you try and add to them, and enforce your opinion of righteousness on others, the Mormons "just get weirder." We have enough to contend with right now, with a Mormon inching closer and closer to the White House, and millions of dollars being spent to derail that effort by making HIM look weird. Don't help them out.
