I asked him if that was his only impression of BYU and mormons would he think that those actions are representative of mormons in general or would he think it's just a few fans heckling at a sporting event.
He responded:
"It's surprising that a school known of religious purity is so harsh at sporting events. But, I know you, you are well rounded and well grounded, but you guys can really let loose at sporting events. I guess it's the one place you guys get to act like [male private part] and get your "mean" out."
So, again, there is some merit to the fact that some athletes probably leave with a bad impression of BYU and mormons.
BUT, BYU generally has the strongest fan support and I know many schools would die to have a home crowd like the Smith Fieldhouse.
