same time being concerned about the direction of the program. And I'm sure that many fans gave him a bit of a pass over the last few years because of the talent coming in. But let's take a look at where we are at. (dear cfb, I apologize for ending a sentence with a preposition. I hope it helps that I preemptively addressed it, rather than just hoping it would fly under the radar)
1. We have at least five top-100 players. (Six if Dastrup is one, but I honestly can't remember, and have no desire to look it up.)
2. Our best player, who has only been back from his mission for one season, seems to have zero desire to return to the team because he doesn't have faith that this staff can help him develop for the pros.
3. Despite our consistent talent advantage, each year we lose to vastly inferior basketball teams. (My personal belief is that the reason for this is that we are so easy to gameplan for, both offensively and defensively. That's a problem)
4. Rose is very slow to adjust, both with scheme and with assistant coaches. I don't know if Nashif is the right guy to go or not, (personally, I think LaComb would be my first choice, because of his minimal experience/resume. At least Nashif played college ball) but our consistent problems on the court justified a coaching shakeup, at least with the assistants, at least a year before now.
I'm sure there's more, but there are my quick thoughts. Rose did an incredible job of turning around a dismal program and making it a winning one. Why is it wrong to think a fresh set of eyes could potentially take us to the next level? We were supposed to look better in the WCC, not worse.
