The Jimmer years and success are long over and yet Coach Rose has landed some excellent recruits. It appears though that we lack the staff necessary to coach them to the next level. Also, the scheme and flow of the offense and defense is amiss, which speaks loudly to the skill set and unity of the coaching staff.
Tom Holmoe has raised expectations for BYU athletics on an overall basis, but Coach Rose is primarily responsible for the raised expectations for basketball. The future outlook is not as rosy as you suggest.
Similar to the football team, we need assistant coaches with college and preferably professional experience. Rose needs to evaluate the program with Holmoe and implement the necessary changes. Some of our players have NBA aspirations. It's difficult to get there when some of your coaches only have high school experience.
By comparison, do you feel that Coach Few and his staff would be stagnating with our young team? I highly doubt it...
