Why it’s cheaper to rent than to buy a home in these Western cities

The National Board of Realtors says renting is considerably less than the expenses of owning a home in many markets in the West. And a group of scholars say if renters reinvest those savings in other opportunities they can "be confident in their ability to build wealth over the long term."
