The federal Low income level for a family of 5 in LA county is 102K. If you pay

tithing it’s closer to 110K.

So 70k, if you are a sole provider of a family, is very low income for that region.

Want to save for retirement? Save for college? No amount of budgeting is going to accomplish that

The criticism of someone with that criteria wanting a second job to get his family a little ahead seems kind of nuts to me. Sounds like something we should be holding as a good example of a good parent
