I don't begrudge someone working extra hard to get those extras. I don't live in a "median house" (meaning the going price of my home is below the median in my community). People aiming for "at least the median" are not meeting the basic necessities, they want more. Those who are working for more than the basic necey are admirable. Motivated, hard working folks improve society.
Just don't call it basic necessities because it isn't...just call it what it is: "I am struggling to pay my bills because I want more."
