a good coach inspires those players to step up and be his leaders...
...just a like a good Bishop inspires people in the ward to step up, serve and magnify themselves through their callings. The power of a good Bishop is in his ability to motivate ward members to step up and do a little more, lengthen their stride, show their leadership potential.

These guys come out of the woodwork for Bronco because he inspires it in them. Do you know why he's the head coach? HE bombed his first interview for the BYU HC job (he tanked it really) because he felt loyalty to his friend Gary Crowton. After Kyle was offered and flipped to take the Utah job, the BYU job (iirc) was about to be offered to Lance Reynolds when a bunch of defensive players crowded the BYU AD office and pleaded with Holmoe and others to give Bronco a 2nd chance at interviewing for the job. You know the rest of the story.

Those leaders stepped up because of their feelings for Bronco. But first he had to earn it from them. With Bronco being more involved and hands-on with the defense we'll see guys step up because of him. I criticize Bronco a lot but that's one area I can't say anything critical of him.
