As much as I love BYU, I often feel like many in the administration there are out of touch and often don't have students' best interests at heart. In my time there it was far too typical that administrative types would hide behind the school's mission as a way of not actually responding to students' concerns. Fortunately I never had any run-ins with the Honor Code office, which sounds like truly Kafkaesque sounding institution. But even in areas like housing, student concerns were for the most part just brushed off with the attitude that housing policy and even its implementation was blessed by the brethren and grievances with the approved housing department were tantamount to rebelling against Church leadership.
It sounds like things only get worse when things come to the Honor Code.
