It depends on your starting point and still relies on other factors. The most
important component in a weight loss plan is calorie restriction. Burn more calories than you consume and you will lose weight. Cutting out a certain food group won't help you lose weight faster if you control for total calorie consumption. It can be easier to maintain reduced calorie consumption, however, by eating fewer carbs and eating more fat. Fat consumption can really affect satiety, which makes it easier to control yourself. Carbs run through your system and tricks your body into thinking it needs more food when it really doesn't. Most carb-rich whole foods like fruits and vegetables are easier to moderate because they also contain dietary fiber. Added sugar, however, does not, which can cause you to want to binge more on soda, sweet snacks, etc.
