I think I'll look back and think that Beck/Hall/Taysom, Brown/Unga, Collie/Hoffman, Harline/Pitta/George, Sorenson/Ziggy/KVN were great players.
We were set up so well to take a measured risk. Get a new coach that could land better recruits, get some new systems in place, and hopefully get lucky again soon with players performing like those I just listed. Plan failed. Wasn't foreseeable. Bad offensive hires, QB wasn't as stable/talented as we thought, and virtually no star players emerged. Bummer. Still happy we took a risk. Everyone saying we will never reach those heights again are overreacting. BYU will always have the stability to land the type of players Bronco got. If we get players like those above again (which is total luck really), and the system under Grimes is healthy, there is no reason we can't have special seasons again. It is hard to dig out of a hole, but it is much easier to do so at a school that isn't a meaningless commuter school.
