FulhamUte Walk-on
I work at a college my kids are interested in attending..

Part of the reason I work and teach there is because of the substantial tuition remission my kids will be eligible for. We've all heard the stories about people eating Ramen for four years and working 30 hours to pay for college. I see it every day. Some kids have the free ride of their parents; some kids work 30 hours and come to class exhausted. It's an interesting juxtaposition within the same classroom.

Me personally- I worked. I got through my bachelors and worked at another school for tuition remission for my MBA. My wife and I got married before she entered PT school. I worked to put her through her masters and doctorate programs. We came out of it with no debt. The flip side- we didn't travel like kids do today. We didn't spend money on new cars or trips to Hawaii. We actually regret not talking more about it back then.

I feel for kids who have to make tough decisions. I agree the system is broken. I think part of this is the lack of knowing what they're doing going into it. You'd be surpirsed how many juniors don't know what they want to major in.

Choices. I'm all about choices.
