managed by professional coaches, so it's somewhat to be expected. You have 100+ HS kids, maybe 2 or 3 coaches, and a dozen or so athletes. The coaches can't continuously evaluate campers while administering drills for all the kids in attendance, so the athletes are brought in to help run the nuts and bolts stuff. They're not paid coaches. They're young men and women a few years older than the campers themselves.
If you're a stand-out athlete at a camp, the coaches will notice you. Just because it's a little bit of chaos doesn't mean they aren't seeing who has the athleticism and skills to potentially play in college and who doesn't. 99% of campers dont.
