It was your last line
“These people are nightmares”. Who are these people? I agree that the dog peeing on the floor is a huge issue but I don’t like that last line. I am disabled by law. I didn’t choose to be, or did I want to even apply for SSDI but had to apply when my former employer’s disability determined that I was too sick and a liability to come back. I do not look disabled, nor do many that are. I have an autoimmune disease and only leave the house when I am having a good day, in which my pain level is tolerable. It never stops and I have become good at hiding that pain. My point being is that it is not right to lump all people with service dogs into one group, because of one or 2 bad incidents.
I can remove my thumbs down, if I misunderstood your post. I am not perfect, but this woman had a very well trained animal and was treated poorly. Mental illness is no different than my Crohn’s and gastroparesis, cancer, blindness, or any other disabling condition or disease. If that woman was listed as a Vet with PTSD, would people be mocking her or saying she was attention seeking? If she was a Military Vet with PTSD, she would rightfully be called a hero and her dog would be getting praised for the service it provides. Many of the service dogs are saving Vets from commiting suicide and helping with other tasks, as well. Still, disabled is disabled, and that situation was a nightmare for her and her disease.
