Well, maybe you don’t know enough about academia to say that. Have you WORKED
In Academia?
Not all universities are the same.
Not all departments are the same.
Not all faculty have the same jobs.
Not all faculty have the same resources.
The rigor and expectations in some academic fields and jobs are much more challenging than people think
Just because someone WENT to graduate school at university X, they think they have academia all figured out. Being a student and being a faculty member in a graduate program is completely different.
Sorry you are so short-sighted in your assessment. Don’t put all people who work in academics into your own little belief box.
I could be be like you say something similar about a lawyer, a doctor, a engineer, a business man....... and be just as narrow-minded. I know a few lawyers...I know a few doctors...I know a few engineers and all of their current work conditions. Obviously not all lawyers are the same and work in the same environments. Some work very hard and have challenging jobs. Some are a joke and have cush jobs, making lots of money.
Just be careful not to generalze a whole profession because the tens of thousands of academic jobs are very different throughout the country.
