I agree 100%. Too many variables. I just get tired of people
spouting off about how easy and low risk my faculty job is when they have NO IDEA.
Could there be some faculty jobs that are easier than others? - absolutely. It depends on the level and competitiveness of the university, the department, the resources and the person themselves....and so many other factors.
It would be like me trying to generalize how difficult/easy all lawyer jobs are or all doctor jobs are or all business jobs are.
WAY Too many variables to try make that statement.
Final thought - my faculty position and responsibilities are very different than many at my own university, or many within my college and department. Yes, so much variation within my own university.
The same can be said with the various faculty jobs across BYU’s departments.
