With plans to hit up a movie next. If they don’t get a table on time, they have to rush a somewhat pricey and slow meal, or miss the movie they have reserved seats for.
One of the times I went there, we had a movie planned afterwards. The place wasn’t crowded, but it took longer than I thought it should for them to seat us, and the staff didn’t show any urgency or interest in seating us quickly. They mostly stood around the register chatting it seemed. The table they eventually took us to (after about a 20 minute wait) had been empty the whole time. They hadn’t started the grill heating up during that time either. No idea what the delay was. I am generally not one to complain, but I could see people getting annoyed by things like that. As I said, I don’t know what the delay was, so no idea how to fix it, other than making staff more aware that perhaps seating guests should be a priority over other stuff. Th optics can be bad.
Also, both times I’ve been, the drinks were very slow to refill.
I think perhaps the staff just needs a bit of training. Both times it seemed like staff congregated at the register chatting more than at other places. When they were paying attention, they were exceptionally nice. The first time I went, the waiter was particularly nice talking about the sauces in detail, etc...
Nothing was bad enough that I wouldn’t go back, or would write a formal review. If I did I would only be positive, I want to support local business, especially ones with connections to CB... but I can see what the review was saying.
