He was a starter on his college soccer team. Great athlete, had a scholarship, potential for bigger things etc..

As CoachSpeak stated, she just couldn't handle the rigor of everything and 'convinced(?)' him to quit the team.

As a bystander, I was really bummed for them. But I realized I wasn't in their shoes and of course it was their call. He's such a good guy, and seems to have handled it all really well.
