You are making these 'wives' out to be stereotypical needy women... and they are not. You are placing them into your idea of what their life is like, and it is nothing like you describe.

For your one example of a player who's wife brought them down, I could give you a large list of guys currently on the roster who's wives contribute to their success. I could even list a number of unmarried guys on the team who have benefitted by the wives of married players. Things like prepping meals, helping with homework, helping with housing, transportation... etc.

The girls that end up marrying these players know exactly what they are stepping into. They are not expecting this 'fairytale' you describe. If anything... they want their husbands to work harder, focus more and succeed more then the player.
