no matter who they are, to collectively produce a good defense, it doesn't matter what individual players you've got. If your TEAM defense is bad, it's bad. Nothing about UCLA's individual athletes made them have a good team defense.

I'm not sure why this is confusing. I'm just saying stop assuming that being in a P5 conference means a team is tougher. Oregon State's defense was dreadful and nothing about conference affiliation can change that. Boise State's defense was pretty good and nothing about them being G5 makes that worse.

Saying "the likes of UCLA, Arizona, and Stanford" is embarrassing. The likes of those schools means he was playing against meh to really bad defenses.
