Whittingham declined it. Absolutely stoned. Utah offered multiple instate QBs PWOs this last year and do so every year and would have taken Wilson in a flash if he’d been willing to accept it. Just a ridiculous claim by you, maybe the most ridiculous one I’ve ever seen on CB by anyone.
Schools will generally only sign one scholarship QB per year, that’s it, because what good does it do to sign a bunch of them when only one guy plays. It isn’t like other positions where multiple guys play and even more sub in and out all game long, one qb plays and that is it so most schools will only have 4-5 scholarship QBs at a time.
Utah had a commitment from the Tuttle kid, a fairly highly ranked recruit, they weren’t giving out a second qb scholarship. Wilson was a kid with quality offers, in fact a QB scholarship offer to Boise St is vastly superior to one at Utah, it isn’t even close. Now Wilson probably would have taken a Utah scholarship offer over Boise but that is because he was a fan not because Utah is a better place for a QB but with no scholarship offer from Utah he wasn’t even going to consider Utah. And trust me I know how this works.
And who cares if Whittingham offers kids like Tua, so did everyone, that kid was a no brainer it didn’t take any special talent evaluation to offer that kid.
The truth is Utah just plain screwed up with Wilson, and honesty BYU just plain lucked out because they were to stupid too offer him until the last minute.
