I was in med school in the late 2000s there
At the start of med school.i could walk up and get a student ticket the day before the game. No lines. Nothing. 2008 and after suddenly you had the get one days before and wait in a long line.
Sure the team did better starting in the 90s but the overwhelming majority of these lifelong fans only realized they were suddenly lifelong fans in the late 2000s.
