I've played piano in just about every Church calling you need. What helped when I was his age was that my teacher either assigned songs I would enjoy playing or let me pick songs to play. That made practice fun and something to look forward to. My senior year of high school I had a more advanced teacher who assigned some songs I flat out hated, and practice was a real chore even though I had already developed a love for the piano.
