...Jake heaps looked great in 7 on 7 drills and in QB competitions but put him in the pressure of a live game and he whithered under the pressure. I've got kids the same way on my comp league bball team. They're great in practice then during games their nerves etc get the better of them.
I don't think anyone thinks Hall looked bad during his start. He made some nice plays but our offense looked a lot smoother and more efficient under Romney. I think most people recognize he made better decisions in the pocket against a much better team. Now Romney was at home and Hall was on the road so there's that, it's fair to consider it. But also Romney played in some really crappy weather and still shined with some great decisions and throws so that is a pretty big consideration in his favor imo too.
Bottom line is this is a great problem to have, isn't it? 2 yrs ago it was either a severely under-performing Mangum or your choice of Hoge, Critchlow or the equipment manager who used to play a lot of intramural flag football.
