Alright, let’s go through it for the 10th time why your statements are
inaccurate hyperboles.

“Guy regularly and repeatedly crapped on his own fanbase, the people that essentially pay his salary.”

- Regularly and repeatedly? Outside of the Pharisee comment, what other exact quotes are you referring to? And news flash, other coaches have done the same. Mike Gundy’s I’m 40 rant. Fizdale’s Take that for data comments. Even Mike Leech sounded off on a reporter last night. Coaches are humans who are passionate about their jobs.

“He neglected recruiting, and the program declined every year after Crowtons recruits graduated.”

- He neglected recruiting linemen, but he recruited other positions fine, right in line with BYU’s averages. And the program didn’t decline every year. His two worst years were the first and last year of the MWC. Every independent season was within one game of his overall average of 9 wins per season, and the last season was an improvement over the previous 3 seasons.

“He took a program who had been played .500 with the rival, and went 3-7 against them and completely lost BYU upper hand in in state recruiting.”

- Bronco went .500 against Utah when they were in the same conference. As soon as when Utah went P5 is when BYU lost the upper hand in recruiting, and that’s on Tom Holmoe, not Bronco.

“Then at the first opportunity, he bails for a pay raise and so he coukd coach at a place with lower expectations and less adversity.”

- He didn’t bail at the first opportunity. Both UCLA and Oregon State tried to hire him away. He left because Holmoe wanted Sitake and a lot of fans like you were convinced he would be an upgrade over Bronco, which is objectively false thus far. And while Virginia has lower expectations, Bronco is raising them. And he’s done it within one recruiting cycle. The upward trajectory of UVA is undeniable.

“I truly cant comprehend the Bronco love. Are yall just mesmerized because hes mormon? Why does Virginias coach, who left BYU in a significantly worse position as a program than when he inherited it, have a cult like following? Its one of the mire bizarre things about an already weird fanbase.”

- Bronco inherited a program that had suffered consecutive losing seasons, was in the middle of a rape scandal, and was in danger of being shut down by the BOT. Some of us who can understand nuance appreciate that Bronco saved the program from being shut down by the Church, and never missed a bowl game in 11 years. We respect that he’s replicating similar results at a program that has one of the worst football histories of any P5 school in the nation. And we anticipate that some of the current staff at Virginia will have a likelihood of returning to BYU, so them learning to succeed in a P5 conference is good for the future of BYU.

What’s truly bizarre is how some on here still want Bronco to fail despite never having a losing season at BYU, nor has he ever badmouthed BYU since leaving for a significant pay raise, one that ever CBer would have jumped at in a heartbeat. Your perception of Bronco does not match objective reality in any way, shape, or form.
