no-one gets kicked out of USNA for immorality; however, most forget the following which is true at all the SAs.
1. While recruited athletes will get some slack in terms of meeting the same standards entrance standards, once in, they get no preferential treatment. They take the same core stem curriculum as all other midshipmen/cadets. This includes physics, chemistry, calculus, computer science, an engineering class, and a foreign language, just to mention a few, all the first year. A normal course load is not 15 hours but 18+. My grandson currently at USAFA is taking 19.5 hours. Additionally they have drills, briefings, room inspections, and physical demands unequaled at any other university.
2. There are strict rules on fraternization. The first two years, no cars are allowed. They cannot marry until graduation. With the academic and other demands, there is little dating that occurs. Two-thirds at all SAs are men. My grandson has not had a single date during his first year-and-a-half. He is not unique.
3. Following graduation, they have a 5-year active duty commitment which will include deployments and moves around the country and the world.
The foregoing, in my view, is tougher than the HC that CB constantly complains about.
