There were some playmakers that could make plays on 50/50 balls. Those receivers were long gone in 2017 and the coaches tried to develop Mangum's skills as a passer. Mangum never learned to get his past his first progression consistently and that's why he didn't progress along with the mental and physical issues he was dealing with.
As for Squally, he racked up most of his stats against bad defenses in 2017. He had a break out game against Wisconsin his senior season and genuinely looked improved, but then injuries sunk him. I liked Canada, but he was never going to be a feature back that you can build an offense around. Even the NFL wouldn't bring him in for a camp try out.
As for Bernard, he only played linebacker for Kalani. I'm guessing that Bernard is thankful for Kalani now, since he might get an NFL look at linebacker. He also didn't play at all in 2017.
