I just think it's double speak. Doing anything "extra" at byu is seen as perhaps

too worldly or they're afraid of making the Michelle P. 's of the world think that a disproportionate share of funds goes to meaningless sports. It's best to spend the minimum, attend the games with a smile, and just accept the fact that we're a nice little academic university that happens to play football.
