The irony is we are supposedly quarantining ourselves so the health care system does not get overwhelmed. But the quarantine and dire predictions of hundreds of thousands of people dying is triggering panic which is the root cause of the health care system being overwhelmed.

A friend called me last night to tell me he lost his job. It wasn't Coronavirus-related, but the economic shutdown expedited the layoff. He already had a job lined up. Had the interview a couple of weeks ago and was in negotiations when they froze all positions until Coronavirus settled down. His wife does contract work and her jobs have dried up. They moved into a new home three months ago and don't know how they are going to make their mortgage payments. His family is just the first to get wrecked. This is the new normal. This is what is coming to a whole bunch of people because we have committed economic suicide over this virus.
