The list of most common foods that cause food poisoning does not include many things found in a pizza joint. Add in the fact that they cook those things at 400-500 degrees and that would kill most stuff. It just doesn’t make much sense unless he ordered a oyster pie with unpasteurized cheese and unwashed lettuce top.

It certainly could have happened as he described, but given the circumstances, I am very doubtful.
