Got mine from my Dad
I graduated law school with a big law firm offer in SLC. My dad approached me and said he thought I would have a better opportunity working with him at his two man law firm. He offered me an outrageous sum of $35k salary, but there was a bonus structure that if I worked hard at, I could make quite a bit more. He also told me that he would not babysit me and expected me to be able to go to court, handle clients, motions, depositions, and trials on my own.

I took the offer with my dad after much thought. The first three years were awful as it was thrown into the deep end. I am now now about ten years into my career, am confident in my abilities, and make at least double of what my law school friends are making at big law firms. I also don't work as much, control my own schedule, and have a fairly good work life balance.

Sometimes, the best career option is the option that will stretch you and challenge you the most. Even if the financial reward will not be immediate
