It may take a while to get noticed. And it may take a company change before you're compensated in the way you would like.
But if you approach your job as just a necessary evil that you just have to go through the motions for, don't expect to be rewarded for that. Your reward is your paycheck.
If you look around on your team and you are a bottom performer, fix it. Overperformance matters, even if it doesn't pay off right away.
