into serious debt for law school in any circumstance really. It isn't too hard to get law school at most places for the same price that BYU charges. For instance, I got a scholarship (half tuition) that made it the same price as BYU. All I had to do to keep it was finish in the top 3/4's of the class which was not hard.
Unless you want to go the big law route in a big city, LA, NYC, DC, or Chicago really, the top 14 don't offer you much of a leg up. For instance, here in Las Vegas, the top of the class at Boyd, get the best in state clerkships and jobs over out of state hires regularly. Even over schools like BYU, Utah, Arizona State, and McGovern, which traditionally did well in Nevada. Now, Nevada is a bit unique as it is the only law school in the state and the legal community works hard to support it, but still.
